The Reason for the Summer Season

We all know the saying that says there is a time for joy, time for sadness - but what do you think is emblematic of the Summer "time" ? And is it a time or is it a feeling or a season - of the Summer spirit. The Summer Solstice heralds the start of the Summer as it is known. For many of us who have lived through many Summer times and seasons, just the mention of the word "Summer" can often transport us to a time, a place and a remembrance. I still (still!) have a hard time having to go to my job during the Summer months. Yes, it is partly because in the northeast we have so few months of warm weather, but because the Summer meant a break from (full-time) school and the daily rigors involved - I more than ever need (really need!) that break now that I am an adult.

At First Sight

Love at first sight
is a phrase most often associated with romantic Love. But it ca also refer to the immediate and profound attraction or resonance we experience when we make a discovery. I have heard people utter this phrase when they have spotted a house that is perfect for them, a car that moves them before they turn on the ignition or a wedding gown that is, "just what I was looking for."

This resonance or attraction is a form of intuition and knowing-ness that we can develop with practice and patience. It can also lead us to just as readily understand what does not attract or resonate within. The lesson I am learning is to "finish the feeling" meaning to say what I do not like, want, need - out loud just as I would when I am attracted to something and it "feels" good or right to me. It is OK and it signals to your inner self that you are listening and tuned in to yourself. I am reminded of the saying I saw on a t-shirt: Inquire Within.

Some of my metaphysical colleagues and I refer to it as checking in. It is something we say by way of offering a tentative commitment to give the issue at hand full consideration by allowing ourselves the space and time to inquire within and listen to the response before we commit, accept or agree to something that may not be in our best interests at that moment or in the future. Think of it as discussing or reviewing something with the oversight committee - of one!
